During an endurance horse race, the veterinary check must be completed as quickly as possible.
The horse must be unsaddled. Every second counts, much like a pit stop in Formula 1.
The horse must be unsaddled. Every second counts, much like a pit stop in Formula 1.
Problem : Existing equipment is inadequate, and the fastening systems are complicated to use.
To save time, riders sometimes begin unfastening their equipment before the finish line,
which creates safety hazards.
“It would be really great if all the equipment could be detached in one simple movement.”
Our approach was to source and test on prototype the different types of loops
that best met the primary function of instant ejection,
but also allowed for easy reassembly.
After testing, we opted for a system of magnetic buckles activated by pulling on webbing handles,
an easy-to-grip and very robust system that cannot be accidentally triggered.
And because the magnetic buckles attract each other, reassembly is easy.
