client : DECATHLON - fouganza | CH 100 kids equestrian helmet
intervention : ideation - clay modeling - 3D modeling - 3D rendering - designpack
Decathlon strives to significantly reduce their environmental footprint with each new product design.
Replacing Fouganza's best-selling equestrian helmet therefore provided an excellent opportunity
to implement eco-design principles with significant results.
▲ eco-design product architecture studies
In collaboration with Decathlon's helmet engineers, two eco-design approaches were developed :
1. Reduce :
drastically decrease the environmental impact of helmet production
- by simplifying the product's structure, eliminating unnecessary parts and finishes.
- by replacing the fragile and highly polluting paint with solid-color ABS
and a slightly textured surface finish that reduces scratches.
2. Recycle :
facilitate the recovery and recycling of the product at the end of its life in Decathlon stores,
by allowing each part to be disassembled and recycled in the production of new helmets
- by developing new glue-free assembly methods.
